BEFORE YOU READ THIS ARTICLE, HERE ARE THE BULLET POINTS FIRST:
-If you are running Windows 10, you may be at a higher risk for identity theft, viruses, trojans, and being hacked.
-You are probably NOT eligible for Windows 11
-You might NOT have to buy a new computer!
-There are SAFE, SECURE, FREE options for you!
Microsoft is abandoning support for computers running Windows 10 that do not meet the hardware security requirements to upgrade to Windows 11 on October 14th 2025.
To install or upgrade to Windows 11, devices must meet the following minimum hardware requirements:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with two or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC).
Memory: 4 gigabytes (GB) or greater.
Storage: 64 GB or greater available disk space.
Note: There might be more storage requirements over time for updates, and to enable specific features within the OS. For more information, see Windows 11 specifications.
Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later, with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable.
TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0.
Display: High definition (720p) display, 9" or greater monitor, 8 bits per color channel.
Internet connection: Internet connectivity is necessary to perform updates, and to download and use some features
If your computer doesn't have ALL of these, Microsoft recommends you buy a new computer that does (or you could BUY an Apple product).
HOWEVER
What they DON'T tell you is that there are very safe, reliable, secure options.
One in particular that you may have never heard of is an operating system called Linux. It has a user interface that looks just like Microsoft Windows and Apple's MacOS: It has Firefox and Google Chrome web browsers, Email Software (Evolution, Thunderbird), can run video conferencing software (Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom), comes with a robust graphics editing software suite (GIMP), and a FULL Office Suite that is a mirror to Microsoft Office you may have heard of it - LibreOffice (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Database, and MORE), has a FULL security suite (firewall, vpn, antivirus).
Linux is so secure and reliable that the United States Military, BIG TECH Companies, The International Space Station, and European Governments use it! But don't just take MY word for it. Click each listed example and see the truth for yourself!
A Linux operating system for civilian/private use is "FREE" - it has NO RETAIL VALUE!! Why? What's the catch? There IS NO CATCH. One of the many reasons that many Linux based operating systems have no cost is because the software is considered "Open Source" - this means that the source code (original programming) files are available to EVERYONE FOR FREE to collaborate and improve on the operating system and submit to the open source community for adaptation and adoption to future distributions ("distros") released in the form of security and feature updates.
So. How do you get Linux? Call me. The operating system is free and your only cost is backing up your files, installing the new OS, and putting your files back on the computer with the new system! Get in touch. Stop out to the shop and see Linux running in person - my business RUNS on LINUX!!
